Academic Advising

To graduate with an Anthropology Major, students must earn a grade of "C" or better in each of the required courses, ANT 100, 274, 277, 281, 286, 380 and 382.

These requirements apply to students entering the program in 1999-2000 or later catalogs.

Transfer students and others in previous catalog years should consult that catalog and the undergraduate advisor.

Antropology Major

  • 36 hours total
  • 21 hours in required classes and 15 hours of elective anthropology credit
  • In addition, students must take one specialized course from each of the four subfields of anthropology as listed below.
  • Finally, students must complete the major with one 300 level elective course, from any subfield:
    • Archaeology: ANT 181, 283, 301, 306, 381, 383, 386, 388
    • Cultural Anthropology: ANT 272, 273, 279, 285, 289.3, 294, 295, 306, 383
    • Linguistic Anthropology: ANT 143, 294, 306, 383
    • Physical Anthropology: ANT 288, 290, 306, 383, 387

Anthropology Minor

  • 18 total hours in Anthropology required
  • ANT 100: General Anthropology
  • 9 hours must be at the 200-level or higher
  • 6 hours Anthropology electives
  • No Sociology course may be counted toward the 18 hours in Anthropology required for the minor
